Code of Conduct for Players, Parents and Coaches

The New Prague JO Volleyball Association is committed to providing a sports environment that fosters player development, team development, good sportsmanship and fair and appropriate competition. To this end, all participating players, parents and coaches are asked to conduct themselves on and off the court within the guidelines of this Code of Conduct. Parents are asked to seriously review this Code with their daughters and reinforce its importance. Harassment is taken seriously in this league and will not be tolerated; consequence will be removal from the league. Parents are asked to support this code on the court, in the stands, and on the sidelines through their actions. Coaches are asked to set the example and to emphasize the Code of Conduct's importance in their training.

 

Players Code of Conduct

  • I will learn the rules of the game and abide by them at all times.
  • I will play to develop my skills.
  • I will never argue with or complain about an official's call or decision.
  • I will work equally hard for my own improvement and that of my team.
  • I will treat all players, coaches, officials and fans with respect. *
  • I will support each teammate on every play when she tries her best. *
  • I will be a good sport by cheering for all good plays, regardless of who made the play.
  • I will practice as hard as I play in a game.
  • I will attend practices and games on time with proper uniform and equipment.
  • I will shake, not slap, the hands of my opponents' in the post game line up and congratulate them on a well played game regardless of the game outcome.
  • I will remember it is a game, meant to be fun for all players, parents, coaches and fans.

 

Parent's Code of Conduct

  • I will learn the rules of the game and understand how player positions impact player's playing time and team placement.
  • I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every game and practice.
  • I will support my daughter by getting her to and from the court for games and practices on time.
  • I will place the emotional and physical well being of my daughter ahead of personal desire to win.
  • I will insist that my daughter play in a safe and healthy environment.
  • I will support coaches/officials working with my daughter, to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
  • I will seek a sports environment for my daughter that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol.
  • I will remember that the game is for youth, not for adults.
  • I will help my daughter enjoy the youth sports experience by doing whatever I can, such as being a respectful fan.
  • I will ask my daughter to treat all players, coaches, fans, & officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.
  • I will help teach my daughter the rules of play and to recognize that official's decisions are final.
  • I will reinforce to my daughter to accept game results and encourage her to be gracious in victory and dignified in defeat.
  • I will positively encourage my daughter from the sidelines and let the coaches do the coaching.
  • I will applaud all good plays, regardless of who made the play.
  • I will remember it is a game, meant to be fun for all players, parents, coaches and fans.

     

Coach's Code of Conduct

  • I will promote fun, teamwork, friendship, skill development, and sportsmanship.
  • I will seek no unfair advantages on the court.
  • I will be reasonable in my demands of the time, energy, enthusiasm, and performance of each player.
  • I will build upon the strengths and skill set of each individual player.
  • I will teach my players the rules of the game and emphasize that they must abide by the rules at all times.
  • I will treat players, officials, opponents, and spectators with respect and dignity.
  • I will celebrate the individual achievement and successes of each player on my team.
  • I will provide positive reinforcement and encouragement.
  • I will teach players how to win and lose with grace and dignity, and be a role model for positive sportsmanship.
  • I will enlist the support of parents to aid in the effort to instill the proper attitudes and values in each player.
  • I will follow the advice of the advice of the physician when determining playing eligibility.
  • I will remember it is a game that is meant to be fun for all players, parents, and coaches.

     

Club Director's Code of Conduct

  • Ensure that the club participants recognize and practice these values: responsibility, respect for self and others, teamwork, fair play, positive attitudes, and persistence.
  • Promote and publicize our programs.
  • Communicate with parents by holding parent/player orientation meetings as well as being available to answer questions and address problems throughout the season.
  • Work to promote a program that encompasses fairness to the participants and promote fair play and sportsmanship.
  • Recruit coaches who demonstrate qualities and expertise conducive to being role models to the youth in volleyball.
  • Make every possible attempt to provide everyone, at all skill levels, with an opportunity to play.
